Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

•           Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for children and young people with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.

•           Administer medications and treatments safely in line with NMC guidelines and hospital policies.

•           Monitor patients’ vital signs, clinical conditions, and progress, responding promptly to any deterioration.
 

Family & Child Support

•           Communicate effectively and sensitively with children, parents, and carers.

•           Offer emotional support, education, and reassurance to families throughout the care process.

•           Encourage parental involvement in decision-making and bedside care where appropriate.
 

Safety & Compliance

•           Adhere to safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns as necessary.

•           Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times.

•           Ensure safe use of medical equipment and report any faults or incidents.
 

Professional Development

•           Maintain NMC registration and comply with revalidation requirements.

•           Participate in mandatory training, clinical updates, and reflective practice.

•           Support the orientation and mentoring of junior staff, students, or healthcare assistants.
 

Qualifications & Requirements

•           Registered Children’s Nurse (Child Branch) with NMC registration or Registered Nurse with experience in Pediatric wards.

•           Experience in an NHS or similar acute pediatric setting (desirable for Band 5).

•           High level of communication, compassion, and family-centered care skills.

•           Ability to work under pressure, priorities care and respond effectively to clinical emergencies.
